Welcome to
Sandarsanam.com! The main purpose of this website is to record
and preserve our family history - to provide a repository
of people, places, dates, photos, documents - any and all
things historical which enable our younger generations to
learn about the generations before us. The name Sandarsanam in
Malayalam (and Sanskrit) means meeting and specifically in
this case, a meeting of the generations. This
website will continuously be developed and
will hopefully evolve into a treasure chest of valuable
family history.
Family
tree and media repository
Patannakara, Upot, Nelliyatt, Pothery - to name just a
few of our families - all originate from the
quaint little town of Kannur in Kerala, South India. Our
aim is to progressively build as many individual and
family profiles as we are able. To achieve this, we will need
names, dates, locations, any important documents and of
course photos! Sandarsanam.com will only
serve its true purpose if we all contribute towards its
success. One of the key elements of this site is our family
tree which is powered by the TNGv7.1.1 programme and will
provide a ready map of ancestors and descendants across all
our families. We already have several hundred old family
photos in our database and are making provision for this
collection to increase with many more additons of historical
value.

This website has
been specially designed to match its purpose. The front page
for instance, depicts the meeting of blue sea and golden
sand.. for over the generations, our families have moved from
Kannur across the oceans to many new lands - Malaysia,
Singapore, UK, USA, Canada and the UAE to name just
a few.. Also note the stars - signifying the hopes and
wishes, especially of our forefathers in their journey to
these distant and often remote lands.

page to help you get started. And once you've done some
browsing, do feel free to send us any suggestions
including questions or comments. We welcome feedback
that would help us imrove the funtionality of this site for
all the family. However do bear with us in that we may
not have the flashiest of websites but we are very much in
build-up mode and hopefully over time, we'll power up
with more sophisticated software where
possible!
